A UK Home Office-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) is required for visa
applications for work, migration, or to join a family member in the United Kingdom.
Depending on your purpose, visas require either a two-skill (Speaking & Listening) or a
four-skill (Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking) English test.
The SELT exams are not all the same, and your teacher will discuss with you which exam
would be best for you. Test information has been collected from the providers’ websites.
LanguageCert offers UK Home Office-approved SELT exams, mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) worldwide.
Computer-based testing for all skills All Skills for English tests use computer-based delivery for all skills. Reading and listening are automatically marked during the test session itself.
IELTS is accepted as evidence of English language proficiency for study, work and migration in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. Each country sets its own IELTS requirements.
Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) are approved for applications to UKVI for visas, UK visa renewal, British Citizenship, Settlement and Leave to Remain.
